It’s not a secret that CM Punk shared a soured relationship with the WWE that led to his departure from the promotion. But pro-wrestling fans were already all aboard the Punk hype train and couldn’t accept the fact that one of the biggest stars in the promotion just left. This led to several instances where the fans would hijack the live shows with chants of “CM Punk.”

One such incident occurred in 2017 when RAW witnessed the filming of a scene for the movie “Fighting with My Family.” The Rock played a key role in the production of the film, as it was being made under his company, “Seven Bucks Production.”.

During an interaction with the fans, he too faced chants of “CM Punk” from the present audience. And The Rock, being ever-entertaining took out his phone and dialed up the straight-edge superstar’s number. But much to the dismay of the fans, the Second City Saint did not pick up the phone. But why? Well, he was with his dog, Larry.

In an interview at the Starrcast III event, Punk revealed why he could not pick up the phone. ‘I was in the elevator, going to the bottom floor to walk Larry, I was in the elevator, no reception in the elevator. My phone, no messages, I get in the elevator, it’s really slow, by the time it gets down and I walk out and I have 87 messages on my phone. I think somebody is dead! I just get number after number, like ‘Answer your phone!’ I’m like, ‘F—, who’s dead? This sucks,’

He further added, ‘I’m trying to figure out what’s going on and that weird number comes up again and I’m trying to answer it, but it’s not going through. I had no idea what was going on until I’m done with the walk, ‘Oh, Rock is calling me, live from the Staples Center, okay. This is f**kin’ weird.’ I started texting him immediately after that, he got right back to me like, I’m like, ‘Oh, brother! I was trying to answer, I was outside, I was in an elevator.’ It just didn’t work out.’
