Cody Rhodes dreamed of winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39. He left AEW to return to WWE and win the gold. Speaking in an interview, Rhodes revealed how he used his WrestleMania loss to his own benefit and didn’t let his failure overwhelm him. ‘The American Nightmare’ recently appeared as a special guest on Sports Illustrated and had a long chat with the host, Jimmy Traina. During the interview, he revealed how he uplifted himself after being a victim of a miserable fate at WrestleMania 39. He stated he couldn’t let himself get depressed with his loss and fall into the abyss.

“I wanted to make a point that I was not going to walk what we call Loser Lane. I am going to walk all the way back up to this 70-yard ramp and I want to feel every bit of this loss,” he said. He didn’t run away from his misery but faced it head-on.

Plus, he demonstrated maturity by not sulking or throwing a tantrum like a child when his wish didn’t come true. He didn’t lose his mind and kept his calm after Reigns shattered his American Dream. It was difficult to face his fans after the loss, but he mustered up the courage and looked them in the eyes with hope still lingering in his gaze.

He tried to move past his loss and work toward the future. However, his close friend kept reminding him of the pain every time they consoled him.

Every time his friends would console him by saying that he had headlined WrestleMania, it would make ‘The American Nightmare’ angry. He disclosed that he didn’t want them to feel pitiful about him.

It bothered him to such an extent that he started getting violent thoughts in his head. Hitting them in the jaw seemed to be a pretty good move to make them shut up and stop expressing their empathy. Rhodes is occupied with Brock Lesnar and is set to face him at SummerSlam.
