Mercedes Mone, f.k.a. Sasha Banks, took a leap of faith when she left WWE for NJPW. Mone’s WWE release came after she defiantly walked out during a taping of Monday Night Raw with her partner Naomi due to creative differences. Although the Japanese style of wrestling was alien to Mercedes Mone, she had undying support from her fans and friends.

Her on-screen rival and The Four Horsewomen stablemate, Bayley, went to Japan when Mone made her much-awaited debut at Wrestle Kingdom and attacked Kairi. That said, Bayley was recently asked if she would ever follow in the footsteps of her dear friend.

Mercedes Mone and Bayley were as good partners as they were rivals. The duo delivered some stellar matches together. In real life, Bayley and Mone are pretty close. Even during the CEO’s suspension from WWE, she had full support from Bayley.

But does Bayley have the desire to go into the trenches and try something new, like Mercedes Mone? During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Bayley was asked if she would ever consider wrestling for NJPW. The former Raw Women’s Champion was rather hesitant about wrestling elsewhere. At this juncture in her career, Bayley would rather wrestle with the devil she knows than the devil she doesn’t.

While praising Mone for her bravery, Bayley said, “I think what she’s doing is incredible, but I don’t know if I’d be able to do it. That Japanese style is intense. I’m a little too old for that. She can go ahead and do all that. She’s braver than I am. She’s way more athletic than I am. So she can do all that stuff, and I’ll support her the whole time.”

She continued by saying that she would take things as they came if the time ever came for her to try something new. To be fair, fans know that the NJPW roster consists of young and hungry talents. However, considering what Bayley has achieved so far in her career in WWE, it’s a no-brainer that she could swim with the sharks.

In fact, we saw Bayley participating in a grueling women’s Money in the Bank match. Although she did not win the match, her Damage CTRL faction member, Iyo Sky, brought the briefcase home. We should note that the relationship between Sky and Bayley has changed since the former betrayed the leader of the faction, Bayley

Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see if Bayley ever transitions from WWE to NJPW in the future. And speaking of Mercedes Mone, she is currently out of action due to an ankle injury. But that doesn’t stop Bayley from appealing to Mone to return to her roots.

Bayley implores Merecedes Mone every day to return to WWE

As noted, Mercedes Mone is currently out of commission due to an ankle injury she suffered during a four-woman tournament match for the IWGP Strong Women’s Championship. Although Mone is long gone from WWE, she isn’t forgotten. Bayley revealed that she misses her presence at the Stamford-based company.

While speaking with Gorilla Position, Bayley revealed that she “begs” Mone to return to WWE. She said, “I beg her every chance — you know what, it doesn’t matter where it is. It doesn’t matter how it happens. I would love to one day step back in the ring with her. Whether it’s teaming with her, whether it’s against her.”

Anyway, Mercedes Mone has made good in her career in NJPW right from the gate. We will have to wait and see how soon the former IWGP Women’s Champion makes her return.
