Being an advocate for mental health is something that Dwayne Johnson has been doing for a long time now. So, whenever he sees the opportunity to encourage someone, Johnson seizes it by saying something heartwarming. Such an incident happened when the WWE legend recently saw a UFC fighter presenting the change he brought in his attitude toward being a role model to fans. The Rock made sure that the MMA star knew he is appreciated for his efforts.
So, Johnson posted a video of Tyson Pedro‘s on his social media and appreciated his statement in the caption. Since Pedro doesn’t consider himself a ‘good person’ Johnson stood up to give him a brotherly comfort before his UFC 293 bout.

The Rock recently uploaded three videos on his Instagram account to promote UFC 293. This is courtesy of the deal that he struck with the MMA promotion to co-brand sports footwear together. Before the event in Sydney, Johnson uploaded short interviews with three Samoan fighters, promoting their match while also wishing them the best of luck. In the video, the Australian UFC star talked about how he didn’t want to be anyone’s idol at first. But Johnson has an alternate message for him.
In the video, Pedro said, “Everyone always asks me if I want to be a role model and I never want to be a role model. Like that’s up to your parents. You don’t want to look at sports people for your role models, like, I’ve made more mistakes than your parents have.” However, his thinking changed after his father made him realize that no matter how much he discouraged this, people would still look up to him. And now, he has a different perspective on the role model scenario altogether. “You can be successful by being a good person as well. I’m not saying I am a good person. But I’m trying to be,” added the Australian fighter.
The Brahma Bull also appreciated Pedro’s honest words. He replied to the 31-year-old’s last sentence, saying, “This is what life is all about… the effort.” In the same caption, he also added, “If you’re lucky enough to be great and influential at something, then you have no choice – people and kids are gonna look up to you.” With this in mind, Johnson wants Pedro to just do his best work and be himself. He also assured him that the rest “will take care of itself“.

The Hollywood superstar then wrote that he is proud of his ‘Usos’, who would be fighting in the event at UFC 293. It appears that Johnson’s caption worked wonders as the Polynesian fighter destroyed his opponent in the first round itself. Several fans and UFC pros appreciated Pedro’s dominant victory in the match.
