2 Ways WWE Should Develop the Sami Zayn-Damian Priest Stolen MITB Briefcase Storyline

Ever since Money In The Bank came into existence, it’s always the winner of MITB who ends up stealing the title from someone else. However, this time around at Crown Jewel, Damian Priest became the victim of theft despite possessing the MITB briefcase. To be precise, the coveted briefcase became the prized possession snatched away from his hands. And the person responsible for the sneaky theft was none other than Sami Zayn. 

Now that Zayn has the briefcase, here are 2 possible routes that the WWE can take to propel the storyline

1. Create a level of intrigue around the stolen briefcase and turn into a mystery plot

Just to get you guys up to speed, Seth Rollins defeated Drew McIntyre and retained his title last night. But just as Rollins lay all destroyed in the ring, ‘Senior MITB’ Damian Priest’s music started playing. Wrestling fans are familiar with the sight, as this has transpired multiple times in the case of a MITB winner. In a surprising turn, Rollins initiated this same strategy as he cashed in his MITB contract at WrestleMania 31 and clinched the WWE Championship by pinning Roman Reigns. Thus, Rollins was arguably just getting a taste of his own medicine. But just as Priest could cash in his contract, Zayn appeared from the crowd, attacked him, and ran away with the briefcase into the crowd. Hence leaving Priest clueless and Rollins pleasantly surprised.

And now on RAW, Zayn can start sort of a treasure hunt with Priest and The Judgment Day as they try to desperately retrieve the briefcase. He can start giving clues or hints that take Priest closer to the briefcase every week. Priests would also have to go through certain hurdles which are obviously part of the treasure hunt set up by Zayn. Will Zayn make this treasure hunt easy or hard? Only time will tell.

2. Capture the MITB Briefcase match

Another route that the WWE can follow is to make Priest eventually challenge Zayn to a match to get the briefcase back. But to make this more exciting, a stipulation can be added that if Zayn wins, the MITB contract gets transferred to him completely. Thus giving him a chance to win a solo championship. This is something that he could do with his tag team partner Kevin Owens leaving for SmackDown. 

This will only make things more exciting and can eventually lead to a match at Survivor series. The last time Sami Zayn held a solo championship was in January 2022, when he was the Intercontinental Champion. For all you may know, he can regain that very title by cashing on his new MITB contract with Gunther. Or will he turn his sights onto Rollins’ or Reigns’ championships? But will Priest challenge Zayn to a match with the MITB contact in the line? Only time will tell.
