In June, WWE superstar Edge celebrated his 25th anniversary of wrestling on television. He made his TV debut on the June 22, 1998 episode of WWE RAW. Shortly after that, Edge took part in his first-ever premium live event (PLE) at the iconic Madison Square Garden.
Twenty-five years after his acclaimed PLE debut at SummerSlam 1998, The Rated R Superstar was part of another debut as he took on Grayson Waller for the Australian’s first main roster TV match, but before that, he broke an alleged rule in WWE. Do you know what it is? Let’s find out.

Wrestling fans of a certain vintage will remember Edge’s PLE debut as a mystery partner to Sable. The duo took on Jacqueline and Marc Mero in a mixed tag team match. After jostling for nearly eight and a half minutes, Edge and Sable were able to collect the victory, as Edge showed signs of a versatile performer.
On the July 7th episode of SmackDown, the program emanated from the MSG. The 49-year-old returned to the WWE after May. He was a guest in Grayson Waller’s program and cut a promo, where he addressed Sable. This is an alleged violation as the WWE has previously barred wrestlers from using the 55-year-old’s name.
WWE Hall of Famer Torrie Wilson has said in the past that the promotion disallowed her from referencing Sable in one of her speeches. Though it’s not official, the female wrestler fell out of favor with WWE after filing a lawsuit against the promotion.
After exiting WWE, Sable sued Vince McMahon’s company for $110 million for alleged harassment and an unsafe work environment. The lawsuit was settled out of court.

Though she returned to the company in 2003, her stint lasted till the following year. Wasn’t Edge aware of the alleged rule or is the company softening up to Sable? Fans are free to guess the answer.
Meanwhile, several yesteryears legends have made a comeback recently. Hall of Famers like Lita and Trish Stratus have renewed their feuds and started new ones. So Sable’s return cannot be ruled out.
On the other hand, not just Edge, another wrestler managed to reference the female wrestler in his promo a few months ago.
Brock Lesnar shows his versatility in word play
Even though WrestleMania 39 was a huge success in terms of numbers, it failed to deliver on certain hopes. One among them was Brock Lesnar’s match with Bobby Lashley.
However, the duo had built up the momentum before the marquee event. In one of the promos, Lesnar even said he thinks about Lashley shortly after going to bed with his wife.

While the promo was NSFW, The Beast Incarnate managed to exploit the chink with his wordplay. For the unversed, Sable is Lesnar’s wife, and he referenced her, albeit without using her name.
So, a name that was shunned for decades, and has been referenced twice in a matter of months is certainly going to raise fans’ hopes. Whether Sable returns to her old employer is one for the future to show.
