“Trust The Rock?”: Roman Reigns’ Reaction to Cody Rhodes’ Statement May Provide Major Clue of Dwayne Johnson Betrayal at WrestleMania XL

Tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown was very important. Not only was Cody Rhodes at the venue, but he also faced Roman Reigns in the ring for their WrestleMania XL promo. What made this promo even better was the fact that these two were the only ones in the ring except for Paul Heyman. There was no Dwyane Johnson or The Bloodline backing Reigns. Furthermore, there was no Seth Rollins or Jey Uso for Rhodes. However, one question Rhodes posed to Reigns and his reaction to it gave a much deeper insight than any of the words used.

Roman Reigns’ reaction to Cody Rhodes’ question shows the doubt he has regarding Dwayne Johnson

The promo that the WWE has been building since the last episode of WWE RAW was finally here. Cody Rhodes made his appearance on WWE SmackDown with no backup. This was offered to him by the Wise Man, Paul Heyman. Keeping to his word, even The Tribal Chief showed up with no Bloodline. During the promo between the two stars, Rhodes asked, “Can you trust The Rock?”

As the camera panned over to the WWE Universal Champion, his face had an answer despite him not saying anything. In a brilliant display of visual storytelling, Reigns looked worried. There was a large shadow of doubt on his face that was as clear as daylight. The WWE has been building towards Johnson not being trustworthy and possibly setting up Reigns to fail at Mania. This segment of Reigns’ reaction to the question enforced that idea.

Even the WWE Universe has been speculating that Johnson might not be as inclined to help Reigns as he has shown to be. There are two possible angles for this, and both end with Reigns losing the title at Mania XL to Rhodes.

The two reasons why Dwayne Johnson could turn on Roman Reigns

The first and most liked and believed reason as to why The Rock will betray Reigns is because Rhodes planted him. As the speculation goes, to take down The Bloodline, Johnson and Rhodes teamed up to make Reigns believe Johnson was on his side. This allowed Johnson to help Rhodes from within The Bloodline. At Mania, fans believe Johnson will turn on Reigns, ensuring Rhodes wins the title.

The second reason is because The Rock wants to be the Head of the Table. Betraying Reigns to lose the title will allow Johnson to contest for the role of Tribal Chief.
