According to a new report by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the promotion has sold more tickets than it had 17 years ago. Interestingly, the Allstate Arena also played host to WrestleMania 22. But WWE has reportedly outdone itself this time.

“WWE Survivor Series had now distributed more tickets than WWE WrestleMania 22 in the same place,” Ross’s tweet read.

The company has now sold more tickets than the 17,155 reported for the marquee event in 2006. The number of tickets distributed for Survivor Series is up to 17,157, confirming a new record for WWE at the said venue in Chicago. WrestleMania 22 recorded 17,155 tickets sales for the WWE.

This record is more remarkable considering WWE will be without its top star and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Is WWE looking at a new era?

While it’s hard to predict exactly, one would assume that WWE under the leadership of The Game is confident than ever. Imagine this, you frequently break and make records and do it even without your biggest champion. Yes, that is what the company has achieved recently.

There’s no doubt that Roman Reigns has been WWE’s show stopper for a few years now. That he is nearing 1,200 days as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, is a testament to his reputation. Though a part of the WWE Universe has constantly questions The Big Dog’s title run and his lack of defense, accusing him of being choosy about his opponents, it cannot be denied that Reigns has helped the promotion get numbers in events he has participated.

But now the WWE has started to find success sans The Tribal Chief. So, will that embolden Triple H to advance to a new era and look past Reigns as the sole face? They have managed it at Survivor Series and if the company can do so in the future events, this surely looks more promising.
