In a week’s time, the WWE Universe might get its new tribal chief. Roman Reigns and his revolting cousin, Jey Uso, will lock horns at SummerSlam 2023. The rules have already been established and the duo will be facing each other in a Tribal Combat match. However, fans were unhappy with Roman Reigns as he broke a rule during the last episode of SmackDown.

They called The Big Dog out for his behavior and protested against it. On the other hand, Reigns’ actions have likely raised the expectations from the match.

Over the last few months, WWE’s blue brand is being propelled by terrific performances by The Bloodline. The family, while crumbling, has managed to keep the WWE Universe on the edge of their seat with the storyline. This week was no exception.

Reigns came out berating Jey Uso for being selfish and ditching his brother, Jimmy Uso, for a solo run. Things escalated further when Grayson Waller played instigator and predicted a loss for the Uso. Unhappy with the Australian’s prediction, Jey Uso attacked him. A match between the duo was set up for the night.

During the match, Uso dominated, but the presence of Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman ringside distracted him. This allowed the 33-year-old Waller to gain back control. However, in a message for Reigns, Uso used a spear to get the win against Waller.

Sikoa, who was stopped by Reigns from attacking Uso last week, tried to assault the former WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champion. While it was thwarted, Uso hit him with a superkick and speared Reigns. Confident about the situation, Jey Uso tried the Uso Splash but was attacked by the duo instead.

Reigns and Sikoa took him out with a combination of the spear and Samoan Spike. As the crowd turned against Reigns and reminded him of his loss at Money In The Bank, where he was pinned for the first time in three years, Reigns and Sikoa hit Uso again.

Needless to say, many fans were unhappy.

Fans are confused and castigate Reigns for disregarding the law

There are rules of engagement that dictate how the participants are supposed to behave. While it will be an ‘anything goes’ contest, allowing both Reigns and Uso to use any weapon, there are stipulations that need to be followed outside the ring.

“I’m lowkey confused. I thought they weren’t supposed to touch either due to “trial by combat” until the match,” one user pointed out. In case you’re confused as well, here’s the explanation.

By attacking Jey Uso, Reigns broke the Samoan Tribal Combat rules, which bars one from taking a cheap shot at their opponent before a match. This was also the reason why Reigns had stopped Sikoa from attacking Jey Uso last week.

Roman Reigns tossing tribal combat rules out of the window by attacking Jey Uso… Smh,” said another, pointing out at Reigns’ disregard for the rule.

A third user said, “Hate the idea of attacking Jey a week after agreeing to a Tribal Combat match, feels counterintuitive.”

Fans are alert about the rules and are quick to call out if they notice a transgression. This time it was Reigns who committed the act.

Two other users also pointed at Reigns’ rogue nature during SmackDown.

“He broke tribal combat rules,” one said.

Another added, “Didn’t he just break the tribal combat rules?!”

What will Jey Uso do next? Considering that the PLE is set for August 5, there’s one more SmackDown episode before that. The chances of the cousins meeting there is less. Fans will have to wait till SummerSlam to find out Jey Uso’s rebuttal.
