WWE has always produced mainstream stars who have led the organization forward for decades. While these top superstars are pivotal due to their appeal, equally important wrestlers continue to work for the long haul.

Such a superstar is the former World Champion Sheamus. Now in a remarkable feat, the Celtic Warrior has once again beaten John Cena after 14 years.

Over the years, the Irish brute has become a work-horse in WWE. While superstars like John Cena have transitioned to part-time, Sheamus has wrestled consecutively at a higher level for years.

In an extraordinary achievement, the Irishman has once again proved his longevity and surpassed John Cena and other big names.

In a post retweeted by Sheamus, the Celtic Warrior has overtaken Cena on the list of superstars with the most wrestled matches in WWE history, grabbing the 7th spot.

You can check out the post below:

With a whopping 1423 matches, only 6 superstars preceded him, with Kane topping the list.

While beating Kane looks improbable, it isn’t impossible considering the fitness level maintained by Sheamus. In another few years with constant matches, the 4-time world champion might end up in the top 3.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Sheamus has beaten Cena. In his debut year in 2009, the 45-year-old would defeat the 16-time world champion in a table match to capture his first WWE Championship.

After making a stellar debut in ECW in 2009, Sheamus made his Raw debut 4 months later. Within no time, he won a Battle Royale to become the No. 1 Contender for Cena’s WWE Championship at the TLC PLE.

While he wasn’t the favorite heading into the match, Sheamus shocked the world by defeating John Cena, sending him through the table to capture his first WWE Championship.

This was a historic victory as he became the first Irish-born to win the WWE title, and he captured the prestigious prize in just 166 days of his WWE arrival, marking the third quickest time to capture the biggest championship in sports entertainment.
