Austin Theory got drafted to Monday Night Raw in 2021. The 26-year-old star worked closely with Vince McMahon and became his protege. One of the most notable angles he played with McMahon was the “Cleopatra’s Golden Egg” segment, which also involved Sami Zayn. Theory’s career escalated on an upward trajectory from there.

However, after the chairman temporarily retired, Theory went on a losing streak, leading to speculations about Triple H trying to bury the young talent. In a recent interview, Theory broke his silence and explained what really happened.

As mentioned, Vince McMahon’s retirement led to the hand over of his creative power. During that period, Austin Theory experienced a notable series of defeats that lasted approximately two months. Naturally, fans concocted theories about Triple H, who assumed creative power, potentially diminishing Austin Theory’s position.

While speaking on the Babyfaces Podcast, Theory finally revealed what was happening to his character. According to him, people on the internet like to formulate their own opinions about things. Theory highlighted the unpredictable nature of public opinion.

He said, “We all know on the internet it’s tomorrow you can be the greatest thing in the world and the next day you could su*k. You know, I remember a time that the internet said, ‘man, this guy, he’s getting buried. He loses every match.’ When’s the last time I lost a match? And people still have something to say now. So, to me, as long as there’s something said, I’m doing what I need to do. But if there’s nothing being said, then there’s a worry there because people say your name for a reason whether it’s good or bad.”

Theory further explained that as long as people are talking about him, whether positively or negatively, it’s a sign that he is making an impact. To be fair, Theory’s losing streak did not persist.

In fact, he shocked the fans after defeating Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley in a triple-threat match at the Survivor Series WarGames. Furthermore, Theory probably achieved the biggest win of his career by defeating John Cena at WrestleMania 39

Santos Escobar was slated to challenge Theory for the US Title after the former won the US Championship invitational tournament. Escobar, who has pinned Austin Theory once, was gearing up for his match on last week’s edition of SmackDown. However, a nefarious Theory blindsided Escobar during a backstage interview and viciously attacked his knee.

Despite the attack, the LWO member was cleared to compete. Theory further aggravated Escobar’s injury by attacking him once again during the latter’s entrance.

While Austin Theory thought he would safely go back home with his Championship, Rey Mysterio jumped into the match, replacing Escobar. Ultimately, it took a 619 and a splash for Rey to dethrone Austin Theory’s second reign as the US Champion.
