The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes has been yearning for the WWE Championship around his waist for a really long time. His promos around the time of WrestleMania 39 and beyond saw him revealing this objective of his to the entire WWE Universe. Despite his caliber and his dogged persistence, the 38-year-old isn’t really moving forward towards this goal.

However, while Rhodes is currently sidetracked by other feuds, his journey can realign towards finishing his story soon. In fact, here are the three reasons why the Survivor Series WarGames 2023 will be where his road to finish his story could begin.

Cody Rhodes could score the pinfall to claim a major victory

Cody Rhodes will be up against The Judgment Day at the Survivor Series WarGames 2023. His effort against the dominant heel group will see the support of Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, and Randy Orton. While all these wrestlers are equally worthy of getting the pin, WWE may take this opportunity to put Cody Rhodes over in a match created by his late father Dusty Rhodes.

Doing so in such a high-voltage match will definitely elevate his status and establish him once again as the top babyface. Especially when the match will involve the undisputed tag team champion, Mr. MITB, and the World Heavyweight Champion as well. 

While this sounds like a workable plan, The Judgment Day also stands a significant chance of winning the match. But, even in such a scenario, Cody Rhodes can still manage to come out on top.

Upholding the superiority of Rhodes despite defeat

WWE has had several storylines where a strong wrestler is forced to lose despite never being pinned. While this happens a lot in triple threats and fatal four-ways, it is also quite frequent in tag team matches. WWE can use this as a strategic maneuver to protect Rhodes at full strength, while someone else from his team gets pinned.

This can be achieved in multiple ways, including a possible interference or distraction by Jimmy Uso. While these methods do keep Rhodes’ aura intact,  Triple H may have another method up his sleeve. In fact, this will put him directly in the line to claim the World Heavyweight title.

A direct feud with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins

The Judgment Day will enter the Survivor Series WarGames 2023 as a faction. However, Cody Rhodes’ match partners will just be a random assembly of highly potent wrestlers. Thus, the group is highly likely to develop internal cracks during the match.

 In the aftermath of Survivor Series and what goes down at the event, WWE can pit Rhodes against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in the match and start a feud with him. There is history between the two stars and if Rhodes loses the match against Rollins it could be used to add another layer to his character.

This method ensures no roundabout turns and gets straight to business. Moreover, WWE may also utilize Randy Orton to pick up a feud with Rhodes to strengthen his claim of a rematch against Roman Reigns down the line. A win over The Viper coupled with his wins over Brock Lesnar and possibly at Survivor Series: War Games will give Rhodes enough credibility to wrestle Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship once again.
