The Royal Rumble premium live event is around the corner, and still, the fans are doubtful about how Seth Rollins could (if at all given his reported injury) be used by the company at the event. So far, ‘The Visionary’ has defended his world title multiple times. However, those matches either took place on Raw or the WWE live in-house shows.

Following his triumph over Jinder Mahal last Monday, Rollins’s future for the Rumble is kept under the microscope by fans and pundits alike. Thus, it becomes interesting yet crucial to speculate on his Royal Rumble appearance.

It won’t be new if Rollins enters the Rumble as a champion and doesn’t get to defend his title in the event. We have seen the likes of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar do this in the past, so it is very possible if the 37-year-old fights in the 30-man match.

As of now, there is no opponent locked on to face Seth Rollins inside the Tropicana Field and his knee injury which he suffered during his match on Raw has increased the level of tension among the fans. Hopefully, he recovers before the Rumble as the 30-man match could also show us a physical showdown between the world champion and his current adversary, CM Punk, inside the ring. Speaking of their rivalry, Rollins could also use the event to upstage Punk’s grand plan.

Seth Rollins ruins Punk’s story

Currently, the fans are putting their bids on the ‘Second City Saint’ as a possible victor in the Rumble. Well, if our world heavyweight champion were to interfere in front of those forty thousand fans, it will cost CM Punk his dream of winning the Royal Rumble and, most importantly, headlining WrestleMania.

Ever since Punk came back, both have been shooting verbal salvos at each other and not backing down. Their feud is simmering at the moment and could apparently explode to a greater degree if we see Rollins doing this at the Royal Rumble. If it happens it could be the nucleus of this rivalry that might escalate going into Mania.

The champ might also throw out an open challenge

As mentioned earlier, Seth “Freakin” Rollins doesn’t have a Rumble opponent so far. While there can be a plethora of possible contenders, the champ issuing an open challenge to the roster might happen at the Royal Rumble.

Well, Royal Rumble is considered one of the big fours of all the PLEs organized by the WWE. The Stamford-based promotion will try its best to make a world title match happen inside the Tropicana Field. As we have Roman Reigns defending his title, Rollins might also have to defend it by issuing an open challenge, and who knows? Maybe a return is on the horizon.
