Hulk Hogan retired from in-ring action a long time ago but his records still stand strong in the wrestling industry. However, not all of his records can stand the test of time. As Wrestle Kingdom 18 draws closer by the hour, one of the wrestling legend’s unique milestones is also at stake.

The record that we are talking about was set a long time ago when Hogan appeared in a few NJPW shows, particularly Battlefield. Much like WK, this PPV from the same promotion also took place on the 4th of January annually in Tokyo Dome. And now, the record that he set inside Tokyo Dome, is at risk because of a current generation star.

While he appeared in NJPW PPVs at Tokyo Dome, Hogan was able to set a unique record for himself. Nobody since has been able to come toe-to-toe with this milestone. However, Zack Sabre Jr. is on a path to breaking this record by equalling his number of victories inside the arena to that of Hulk Hogan’s.

The former AEW star is currently signed with NJPW and is also the reigning World Television Champion. He will be facing Hiroshi Tanahashi in a few hours, defending his title against him. An interesting fact that you should know about is that Sabre has had an undefeated singles match victory score of 3-0 inside Tokyo Dome.

This record is dangerously close to the unbreakable record that Hulk Hogan created during his time with NJPW, which is 4-0. So, even though some fans believe that the records that The Hulkster created might be invincible, Sabre could receive the credit for evening the odds.

But Hogan’s impact on NJPW isn’t limited to only that one record. Not only did Hulk Hogan help NJPW gain popularity by working with them but he believes that the benefit was mutual. He once revealed how he became a better wrestler after spending time in a foreign land.

Although Hulk Hogan famously worked for big Western promotions like WWE and WCW, he also had a brief tenure inside NJPW. From 1980 to 1985, he was over at the Japanese promotion. This is where he learned that he had great potential in the wrestling industry.
