WWE’s poor handling of the women’s division was a topic that had taken a backseat for a while now. Although it still has been in discussion moderately, the intensity of the grievances lowered. That said, it seemed like WWE again sets out to go back to that notorious era where women’s representation in the roster used to be criminally subdued. Now, Rhea Ripley took the rebellious role, letting his stance out amid the current SummerSlam controversy.
WWE’s second biggest extravaganza, SummerSlam is on the verge of losing its prominence for purposefully undermining the women’s division. Fans on social media were vocal about stars such as Trish Stratus, Becky Lynch, and others missing out on the match card. One such grudge post caught the attention of Ripley, who didn’t shy away from showing solidarity with the discontent.

With SummerSlam fast approaching, everyone rightfully expected to get adequate women’s matches featured on the show. But put that hope to rest, WWE infamously snubbed two major matches comprising the Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus grudge match and Rhea Ripley’s match to defend her Women’s World Championship title.
The news had the fans and the contenders up in arms as they could see the past status of the women reverting back to the company.
Amid the growing concern, a fan created WWE on Twitter with a fiery foresight. They advocated for equality saying, ”So from SummerSlam WWE decided to cut: WrestleMania main eventer Hall of Famer & legend World Champion & Most over woman right now If this is how WWE is treating these three, what does it say about the rest? This is how WWE treats their women. #WeWantEquality”

WWE’s reason for taking down two massive women’s matches from the SummerSlam card
The company has left no stone unturned in making the SummerSlam 2023 a memorable event. After months of building hype, it’s almost time to take off for Detroit. At the peak moment, why the top officials decided to mess with the two scheduled women’s matches?
Well, regardless of what the fans say, the official report suggested that Lynch-Stratus match was taken down for something physical. Given both women are visibly healthy, the authenticity of the provided reason, however, is subject to question.

The report further noted that a desperate attempt to cut down the run-on times for the PLE shows forced the company higher-ups to keep some matches reserved for future events.
Whatever the reasons, we need to see where the rousing discontent among female contenders leads the Stamford-based company in the long run.
