WrestleMania and WWE Legends go hand in hand. Every Mania will showcase some Legend making his return to the business. With the upcoming WrestleMania XL just a month away, Stone Cold Steve Austin will be making his return to Mania weekend. The last Mania we saw Austin at was when he beat Kevin Owens at WWE WrestleMania 38. But why would Austin be returning to this Mania? It has something to do with the upcoming Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
Stone Cold Steve Austin, named as the ‘best’ person to induct Paul Heyman
Recently, the WWE announced this year’s Hall of Fame inductee, Paul Heyman. Heyman has been part of the business for decades, spanning multiple promotions. This announcement led to the debate: who would induct him? While CM Punk‘s name was the first to come up due to Punk being a ‘Paul Heyman Guy.’ However, another name added to the list was Steve Austin, who worked with Paul in ECW. Bully Ray added this name on his Busted Open podcast.

On the podcast segment dedicated to Heyman’s induction, Ray said, “The best name, I’m not saying this is the person that they’re going to go with, but Stone Cold Steve Austin is the guy to induct Paul.” Ray went into detail as to why Austin is the best person to do so. According to Ray, Austin represents ECW and has a history with Heyman. This part detailed how Heyman gave Austin a job in ECW during the time Austin was injured.

Ray explained how Heyman told Austin he could stay in ECW for as long as he liked. He just handed him a mic during the show and let him loose in ECW. He also hinted that it was in ECW that Austin borrowed the idea for beer-drinking gimmicks from The Sandman. Furthermore, he referred to Mikey Whipwreck, whose finisher Austin turned into The Stunner.
Along with Steve Austin, CM Punk and The Undertaker could induct Paul Heyman
During the podcast, Ray also talked about how The Undertaker could also be a good inductor to Heyman. He said, “The first one that pops into my mind is The Undertaker. Paul was ‘Mean’ Mark Call’s manager back in the day.” Ray added that Taker could have many stories about Heyman as they traveled together during his initial run.
