Recently, fans witnessed WWE shaking up its rosters with various wrestlers switching brands. The two-night event of WWE Draft started on last week’s Friday Night SmackDown and ended on this week’s Monday Night RAW. As Triple H promised on RAW last month, the draft will have a significant impact on WWE’s current situation.

Jon Alba (Emmy Award-Winning Broadcaster) recently asked Eric Bischoff to share his thoughts on the WWE Draft. Bischoff said it might create problems for WWE in the near future and had his reasons.

WWE can face problems due to split rosters, says Eric Bischoff

In his #25 episodes of the Strictly Business podcast, Bischoff started by saying that having two split rosters gives WWE the chance to possess two distinct licensing opportunities. But it also might face trouble while keeping the respective brand networks happy.

He stated, “The challenge is keeping network partners happy. That’s the biggest challenge.” Talents divided into two different brands may lead to the brand network partners being unhappy.

He said, “But the networks look at the rosters and that’s the challenge. So it’s not so much immediate value beyond the fact that you do have two separate brands that you can license. But it’s a necessity in order to keep your television partners happy. And that’s where it gets tricky.”

The reason he gave this statement is that there is a high chance a particular talent might rise to the top at any point. This will create a bidding war between the network providers to acquire that talent. And if the talent is already assigned to one brand, then the network partners of another brand may become unhappy with the situation.

“Because not all talent is created equal. You could have your roster set. And feel really good about it and then you have somebody emerge as the biggest star in the company. Well, who gets that star? Because both networks are going to want that star,” he added.

Each network brand will want to have the top talent in the brand associate with them. This will aid them in gaining more viewership from the audience. So this split roster situation makes it difficult to tackle this specific problem.

Also, speaking of WWE Draft problems, the fans are unhappy with WWE drafting Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns to separate brands. So overall, instead of bringing a positive impact on WWE, the draft can end up creating trouble for WWE and Vince McMahon.
