It was released on November 24, 2010, and earned $35.6 million at the box office worldwide, out of which $17.3 million came from DVD and Blu-ray sales in the US alone.
According to IMDb, Johnson had to learn a special prison fighting style known as “52 Blocks” or “Jailhouse Rocks” for the movie. The fighting style originated from black urban communities in the 1960s and 1970s. He also spent some time training at Rick Seaman’s Stunt Driving School to learn stunt driving for the movie.
It took the 51-year-old star only two days to master the art of prison-style fighting. This is a symbolic representation of how much relentless power he possesses. The movie pulled a whopping profit figure and was one of the first successes of ‘The Rock’.
