Johnson is, understandably, a household name in Hollywood action films due to his physique. ‘The Great One’ never fails to accentuate his physique in every action film he stars in. So what are the key things that Dwayne Johnson considers to be the smartest choices he made?

Dwayne Johnson once highlighted the two things that he considers the smartest things he did while approaching his physique goals. His fitness routine is one of the most discussed topics on the internet. During an interview with Bodybuilding.com, a decade ago, The Hercules actor made an appearance alongside Mark Wahlberg to promote his 2013 film, Pain & Gain

At some point during the interview, the interviewer asked DJ the question that every bodybuilding hopeful wants to know: what was the smartest thing he did in terms of fitness? Johnson revealed that hiring a coach who watches and plans his diet and conditioning was one of the wisest things he did fitness-wise. 

It’s no secret that when it comes to bodybuilding, nutrition, and exercise go hand in hand. You cannot forgo one to achieve your dream physique. He further revealed that hiring a coach who tailored his workouts to meet the specifications of the roles he played was also another good decision he made. 

He said, “The smartest thing I ever did fitness-wise was hiring a diet and conditioning coach as well as a coach putting together my training and my workouts, depending on the roles. Now the smartest thing because it really… it fine-tuned your details and you just have greater, not only appreciation but an education for what for what you need to do in accomplish.”

Johnson learned more about fitness by working with world-class trainers. The Rock’s social media page is filled with his workout videos at The Iron Paradise. His morning routine, in fact, begins with a crushing session of clanging and banging.

Dwayne Johnson regrets ego lifting

Many would relate that lifting heavy weights makes you feel invincible, virile, and powerful. But as young weightlifters, most of us make the mistake of ego-lifting without being mindful of the proper form. Although Dwayne Johnson is a fitness icon, he never shies away from admitting that he regrets ego lifting.

Further in the interview, Johnson recalled getting injured as a result of ego training. As a wise fitness guru, Johnson advocates exploring how to progressively overload our muscles without lifting more than we can with bad form.
