It is not uncommon to see the gimmick transfer in WWE. Famous gimmicks of WWE legends who do not compete anymore often get passed on to current superstars. For instance, Ric Flair’s “The Man” gimmick was handed to Becky Lynch. However, gimmick transfers tends to open up a can of worms. Sergeant Slaughter’s daughter recently accused a returning Lacey Evans of stealing her father’s legendary gimmick.

Lacey Evans recently made her return to WWE. On Friday Night SmackDown, Lacey made an appearance in a drill instructor’s hat, similar to what Sergeant Slaughter donned during his active years in WWE. But Slaughter’s daughter took umbrage to Lacey’s new shtick and called it “identity theft”. The accusation led to Lacey Evans responding to Sergeant Slaughter’s daughter.

After Lacey Evans made her appearance with a whole new look, Sergeant Slaughter’s daughter took to Twitter rebelling against WWE’s character repackaging. She also called Lacey Evans a “poser”, claiming that there is only one Sergeant Slaughter. She wrote- “No. This is NOT okay. @WWE Who the f*ck does @LaceyEvansWWE think she is?!? There’s only 1 @_SgtSlaughter, there’s only 1 Slaughter Daughter, and she’s just a poser.”

Evans never shies away from speaking her mind on social media. She once lambasted a fan for making inappropriate comments about her. Responding to the Hall of Famer’s daughter, Lacey Evans savagely justified why she the character change was granted to her.

Aside from being a Sergeant Slaughter fan, Lacey Evans is an ex-marine. Before foraying into the WWE, Evans served five years in the Marine, having enlisted at the age of 19. Lacey wrote- “Your daddy’s biggest fan. A United States Marine. And a bad Mfer. you know who I am. And where to find me.”

WWE previously failed to put over Lacey with the “The Lady” gimmick. In her return match, Lacey Evans found herself on the losing side despite dominating most part of the match. Zelina Vega pulled off an upset victory, qualifying for the Money in the Bank match. Judging by Lacey’s performance during the match, even though she lost, it is a matter of time before she propels to the main event picture.

The fact that Lacey Evans had prior experience in the Marines, substantiates why she was chosen for the new character. But was Sergeant Slaughter in the military?

Sergeant Slaughter may not have been in the military but he certainly did justice with his gimmick. And make no mistake, Slaughter had a moderately successful career in the WWE. One of the high points of the wrestling legend’s career was when he won the WWF World Heavyweight Championship and headlined WrestleMania 7 against the Immortal Hulk Hogan

During the closing moments of the match, Hogan managed to pick up the win after hitting the leg drop, becoming the new WWF Heavyweight Champion. In addition to holding the WWF Championship, Sgt. Slaughter is also a former two-time NWA United States Heavyweight Champion.
