Throughout his long career, Hulk Hogan has had multiple matches with different legends of the industry. However, his WWE in-ring career came to an end at SummerSlam 2006, when he faced Randy Orton in a winning effort. However, he currently has the desires of another person, probably in his ultimate match.
Recently, during his interview with Ariel Helwani, Hogan opened up about his career. He also talked about the injuries he incurred throughout his career and the one person he wants to face in his final retirement match. Speaking to Helwani, The Hulkster revealed the name to be Stone Cold Steve Austin.

During the interview, he revealed that Hogan desires to face The Texas Rattlesnake for his retirement match in WWE. He claimed that he always held that desire to face Austin, but fate never had it for him to face the 6-time WWE Champion.
At WrestleMania 18, Hulk Hogan instead faced The Rock in a losing bout. However, he revealed that when he returned to WWE; he had plans to face Austin, but his injuries compelled him to face The Rock instead.

During his interview with Helwani, Hogan revealed how he wishes to return to WrestleMania 40 and have his final retirement match. When asked for his desired opponent, Hogan took Austin’s name.

He said, ” With all this time passing, both of us getting older and wiser, would it even make sense? So, it would be crazy to get back in there at my age anyway. But I haven’t talked to him anything like that ever. So if he would get in the ring, he would be the guy. “

Hogan further said that during his return to WWE in the early 2000s, a match against Austin was the prime reason. He said, “The reason I went back to wrestle The Rock was to get in the ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Because me as a bad guy as Hollywood Hogan, I could have tore the place down with him. You know cause he was the ultimate good guy. “
However, Austin’s injury forced him out of the match against Hogan, and The Hulkster instead had to face The Rock. His match against The Rock drew praise from both fans and critics, and was deemed as a dream match.
However, while Austin was expected to return this year as well, but it did not materialize. So, his return against Hogan seems more unlikely next year.
