Wrestling promotions and wrestlers have always worked hand in hand like a symbiotic relationship as they both thrive on each other. The promotion tries its best to elevate the status of its top stars, which in turn increases the footfalls for its events. A wrestling promotion trying to sabotage a wrestler’s career is a rare occurrence. The only incident in pro wrestling which can be considered explicitly sabotage is ‘The Montreal Screwjob’ where Bret Hart forcibly lost his WWE Championship to Shawn Michaels before moving to WCW.
But recently, former WWE Women’s Champion Asuka has spoken up about how a wrestling promotion tried to disrupt her career.

Asuka fires shots at Japanese wrestling promotion ‘World Wonder Ring Stardom’ on Twitter
Asuka has been in the wrestling business for almost 15 years now. She has worked in the Japanese Independent wrestling circuit, the American Independent circuit, and finally the WWE since 2015.

But as she worked hard to move up the wrestling ladder, there were people who were constantly trying to pull her down. And recently she took to Twitter to tell her fans about a wrestling promotion in Japan that actually tried to destroy her career. However, the promotion failed in doing so. The wrestling promotion she took a dig at is ‘World Wonder Ring Stardom’ which was started in 2010.
The former editor-in-chief of Pro Wrestling Weekly has made this point on several occasions.
That is, Stardom is an organization that was created to defeat me. It is an organization that was created to destroy me personally.
But they failed to defeat me.
I don't know what…— ASUKA / 明日華 (@WWEAsuka) August 14, 2023
In the Tweet, she said, “The former editor-in-chief of Pro Wrestling Weekly has made this point on several occasions. That is, Stardom is an organization that was created to defeat me. It is an organization that was created to destroy me personally. But they failed to defeat me. I don’t know what happened to them after that because I came to America”.
She stopped bothering about ‘World Wonder Ring Stardom’ post coming to the WWE. But in addition to a conspiring wrestling promotion, she also had to tackle the hate from the Japanese media.
Asuka also tweeted about her problem with the Japanese media in the past
‘The Empress Of Tomorrow’ also had her fair share of problems with the Japanese media. Asuka talked about how the media hated her because she didn’t ‘suck up to them’.
