Shawn Michaels Announces Former NXT Champion Representing the Brand in Logan Paul’s US Title Tournament

After winning the United States title from Rey Mysterio at Crown Jewel 2023, Logan Paul has been flying high. The sense of feeling like a champion led him to create a tournament to see who his next contender would be. This format features several stars from the main roster and one NXT wrestler.

While the identity of the NXT star was shrouded in mystery, Shawn Michaels took to social media to announce the entrant.

During an episode of SmackDown, the United States Champion, Logan Paul, took to the ring. Filled with pride in winning the title at the Crown Jewel PLE, he announced a tournament for his title. He declared that there were wrestlers from the main roster and NXT who would participate for a chance to clinch the title from his grasp.

To rain on his parade Kevin Owens came out as he is one of the challengers competing for the title. From the next episode of SmackDown, the tournament started and till now there have been two rounds of matches.

The names included Santos Escobar, Dragon Lee, Bobby Lashley, Karrion Kross, Grayson Waller, Austin Theory, Kevin Owens, and a mystery NXT star. Taking to social media, Michaels announced that Carmelo Hayes will be representing NXT in the tournament.

This tournament has led to some interesting matches for the title of the blue brand. While Paul believes he can hold the title for quite some time, fans are hoping the title goes to someone more worthy than Paul.

The current state of the tournament and possible winners

Escobar faced Lee while Lashley faced Kross. This was during the first round of the tournament which took place last Friday on SmackDown. During the upcoming episode, Owens will face Theory while Waller faces Hayes. While fans hope that NXT’s Hayes will stand out, many believe he will not make it that far.

According to many, it could be Lashley and Owens will face off in the semi-finals. With Owens taking the fight to Paul, there could be some interference by Logan in the upcoming match. While the WWE does not like to pit a heel against a heel for a title, we could see Owens being the #1 contender for the title.
