Brock Lesnar is hands down one of the toughest men walking the face of the earth. From college, Brock Lesnar has been obsessed with winning. And he took his losses very seriously. As a young kid in Junior College, Brock Lesnar had a flare for wrestling. But he soon learned that he wasn’t the best. In fact, he got beat by a “pudgy kid” that helped in the making of WWE’s most formidable athlete.

Lesnar started his domination in wrestling after he competed as a collegiate amateur wrestler at college. The Beast Incarnate became the NCAA Division winner. But before all this, Brock Lesnar was beaten by an opponent that looked as though he had no chance with Lesnar.

Brock Lesnar’s domination in WWE has been incomparable. Right from the gate, he was pushed as The Next Big Thing. Just his sheer size is enough for anybody to take him seriously, let alone his wrestling skills. Meanwhile, Lesnar credits a kid he doesn’t remember the name of for all his success.

In his book, Death Clutch, Brock Lesnar details how he struggled to get recruited by big schools for college wrestling. Lesnar started his junior college wrestling career at Bismarck State in North Dakota. The fact that Lesnar finished fifth at Junior College Nationals in his first year did not upset him as much as losing to a “pudgy” kid.

However, a blessing happened in disguise. Lesnar’s loss added more fuel to the fire. He became so focused that he vowed to turn into the biggest, meanest, fastest, and strongest SOB he could be. He wrote, “Even worse than the fifth-place finish, though, is that I got beat by a pudgy little kid whose name I can’t even remember, and neither can anyone else. The loss to that pudgy no-name was a major turning point in my life because there was no way that kid should have been able to beat me.”

Lesnar then recalled looking at the winner of the tournament. According to The Beast Incarnate, he knew deep down in his heart that he could beat the winner of the tournament for the championship. However, his loss to the kid turned out to be a fly in his ointment.

Furthermore, the multi-time WWE Champion then expressed his gratefulness for the kid who helped bring out the best in Lesnar. He added, “Sorry I can’t remember your name, but I do want to say thanks. At that moment I looked inside myself, and I got serious. I vowed to be the biggest, strongest, fastest, meanest SOB I could become”.

It’s funny how a young Brock Lesnar was humbled by an opponent whose chance of winning against Lesnar was considered inconceivable.

The year 2002 birthed major stars like John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, and Brock Lesnar. However, Brock Lesnar was pushed earlier than any of the aforementioned stars. Lesnar made his groundbreaking debut on Raw by interfering in a hardcore match laying waste to Spike Dudley.

He then rubbed elbows with the biggest names in the business like, The Undertaker, The Rock, Triple H, and more. After obliterating Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar was pitted against The Rock in SummerSlam 2002. Lesnar defeated the Great One to become the youngest WWE Undisputed Champion at the age of 25.
