When Drew McIntyre arrived in the world of WWE, he didn’t have much prior experience. Galloway started off his journey with OVW itself, back in 2007. Although he almost made it to the main roster by the end of the year, upper management sent him back to WWE’s developmental territories. The young wrestler wanted to try out something else and left to join another promotion, only to return to the main roster by the end of 2009.

During his founding days as a wrestler, McIntyre wasn’t fighting alone to stand out. In fact, Rey Mysterio had his back too. Even though they were technically competitors, that didn’t stop Mysterio from supporting what he felt was right.

Inside the ring, we have seen the two talents against each other, and even on the same team. However, behind the curtains, the Mexican luchador treated his Scottish friend with respect and dignity. In fact, he even went out of his way to vouch for McIntyre when his career was still under construction and he wasn’t doing that well.

During an exclusive interview with Metro UK in 2022, the pro wrestler revealed Mysterio’s involvement. He recollected his early days in WWE and specifically recalled his match against him on a SmackDown episode in 2011. McIntyre recalled, “Rey actually went to Vince himself and told him, ‘You’ve got something with this guy, I’d really love to do something with him’.

Even though Mysterio wasn’t able to redeem the wrestler’s career at that time, what matters to McIntyre is the fact that the WWE Hall of Famer went out of his way for him.

Now, ‘The Scottish Warrior’ is one of the top stars on the main roster. In fact, he might also become the World Heavyweight Champion in the coming days if his luck remains intact.

Drew McIntyre’s aims to become champion soon

After Jey Uso joined the main roster, McIntyre was visibly upset because he didn’t trust a ‘Bloodline’ member in the locker room on Monday Night Raw. So, his hatred for the Anoa’i family resulted in a feud with Jey Uso. However, the dispute was cut short as WWE had other plans in mind for the wrestler. And now, he has challenged Seth Rollins for a title match.

McIntyre is set to face the champion at Crown Jewel during the first week of November. Till then, he has denied coming face-to-face against his opponent as he wants Rollins in perfect health for the match.

After he is done with the current feud, it might be meaningful and emotional if WWE decides to bring McIntyre and Rey Mysterio together for a storyline.
