The Bloodline storyline is arguably the best saga to come out of WWE in recent times. Although many factors contributed to its immense success, none so than the main characters Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns. Both men were equally instrumental in making the story a massive hit among the masses.

However, not many would know what went behind the scenes during the ideation of the compelling storyline. And Zayn has given a fair idea of how it came into being while attributing Reigns as a major driving force behind it.

Sami Zayn opens up on the support he received from Roman Reigns

‘El Generico’ recently interacted with ESPN and lifted the lid on many aspects of the famous heel stable. He majorly credited The Tribal Chief for helping him during the brainstorming phase for the saga. Zayn said, “If I’m not lobbying, none of this happens, I don’t want to say the whole thing was my idea.”

“The concept was my idea,  but I think I was brainstorming it with Roman one day, and he was on board. If Roman’s not on board, it’s not happening.”

And fans would be glad that it did happen. If he hadn’t aligned himself with the group, the Canadian wrestler would most probably have remained in the mid-card, unnoticed and obscure.

Except for the Johnny Knoxville match at WrestleMania 38, Zayn had not been part of anything very notable before joining the villainous familial faction. Being ‘The Honorary Uce’ changed a lot of perspectives about him and skyrocketed him to immense popularity.

A brief history of Sami Zayn’s time with The Bloodline

Zayn’s inclusion into ‘The Bloodline’s story arc was also seamlessly achieved. Zayn went on a mission to woo the members of the group after his loss in the aforementioned ‘Mania clash. And after a few interferences that helped cement the stable’s dominance he was anointed as ‘The Honorary Uce’ last May.

The whole summer would see the loyalty of the former Intercontinental champion being in question. Especially Zayn’s topsy-turvy equation with Jey Uso made for must-watch TV. Then came his selling of the soul and attacking real-life friend Kevin Owens at Survivor Series WarGames PLE.

Despite no longer having any reason to doubt Zayn’s loyalty, Reigns asked him to prove it again. It resulted in him snapping and attacking the latter at the Royal Rumble PLE. Thus ending his allegiance with The Bloodline.

The iconic saga has cemented Sami Zayn’s place in the top card of WWE. It wasn’t long ago when he was a mid-carder with the company. And for that Zayn deserves all the plaudits that come his way. And as he pointed out, he reserves a lot of praise for Roman Reigns for his unconditional support behind the scenes.
