Not only did they form an immediate connection, but Johnson also disclosed his profound admiration for the Indian actress.

However, Dwayne Johnson was head over heels when he first met the Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. The start of their friendship bred an opportunity for Priyanka Chopra. When Priyanka Chopra made her debut in Hollywood, she was signed to the same agency that Dwayne Johnson was. This unexpected occurrence facilitated an immediate friendship between the two, transcending their diverse cultural backgrounds.

During an interview with Now Showing in 2017, Dwayne Johnson relayed how he was moonstruck by Priyanka Chopra. The similarities between the duo sparked a connection between them. He said, “I love this woman, it’s funny when she came to America… She was over here, signed with our agency, with my agent, we immediately had that connection.”

Johnson also explained how he and Chopra vibed over the phone. He added, “We share the same DNA, the same ambition… Not only did I fall in love with her, we had this crazy idea that she would be an amazing villain on Baywatch.” Meeting DJ may have been the best thing for Priyanka Chopra during the start of the latter’s Hollywood career, as the duo discussed if she could portray the negative role in Baywatch. It is worth noting that the antagonist in Baywatch was initially written for a man.

However, Chopra managed to bag the role of Victoria Leeds in the 2017 film. Baywatch grossed $177.9 million worldwide, with a budget of $69 million.

Although the film did not perform as expected at the box office, Priyanka Chopra captivated Hollywood with her villainous role. Furthermore, The Red Notice star revealed that he knew all along why Priyanka Chopra was the right fit for the role of Victoria Leeds. 

Dwayne Johnson believed that Priyanka Chopra had the right qualities to portray the villainous role in Baywatch

Baywatch was the remake of the famous TV series from the early 90s. The original stars from the show, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, were also a part of the 2017 film starring alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. As noted, the original plan for the villainous role was written for a man. But it eventually went to Priyanka Chopra.

While speaking further in the interview, Dwayne Johnson explained why he thought Chopra deserved the role. He said, “I think in order to play a villain, the greatest of villains have this great quality and capacity and depth, and that’s exactly what Priyanka has.”

Johnson and Chopra haven’t worked together on the silver screen since Baywatch. But, their undeniable chemistry might potentially reunite them in upcoming projects.
