The Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada served as the venue where WWE Hall of Famer Edge wrestled his last match on August 18. Ever since the bout against Sheamus, which went on for a little over 19 minutes, the future of The Rated-R Superstar in the Stamford-based promotion has been opaque.

While there were rumors that Edge has been removed from WWE’s internal roster, we now have details about his current deal in the Endeavor-owned company.

Cervical spinal stenosis forced the 11-time world champion to bring down the curtain on his career in 2011. While the premature ending left many wanting for more, fans had their wish fulfilled as he made a triumphant return to the ring at Royal Rumble in 2020.

After going strong for three more years, the dreaded question started doing the rounds earlier this year, even as Edge took on The Demon, Finn Bálor at WrestleMania 39 in April this year. While many expected it to be his last, the 49-year-old won the match to retire Finn Bálor’s dark gimmick, contrary to several predictions.

While it offered more time for the WWE Universe to see the beloved superstar in action, the past several months have reiterated Edge’s impending retirement and departure from the WWE, with the superstar himself alluding to it on more than one occasion.

Now, reports say that The Ultimate Opportunist will stay with TKO. According to PWInsider, Edge has been assigned a different role that belongs to a select few people, including The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The outlet reported that Adam Copeland AKA Edge has been added to WWE’s ‘miscellaneous’ talent list.

He isn’t part of either WWE brand – RAW or SmackDown. He is no longer an active TV performer, which leaves one thing open. Technically, Edge can still compete in dark matches.

So, does he have enough in the tank to lace up the boots once more and compete, maybe for one last ride? That will only be revealed with time. Fans surely will be hoping for it, though his not competing in broadcast matches means the Scotiabank Arena remains Edge’s last TV match in the WWE Universe for the time being.
