One of the biggest criticisms Reigns has received as the WWE Universal Champion is that he never competes in title matches as often as champions usually do. The issue is an open secret, with even his Crown Jewel opponent LA Knight pointing it out. Despite holding the title for three and a half years, his competition record has been low this year.

However, as we move into 2024, Reigns was been confirmed to perform at Royal Rumble 2024 as well as WrestleMania 40. Now, taking to X (formerly Twitter), Reigns hinted at another potential appearance at Elimination Chamber 2024 which will take place in Australia.

He posted, saying, “Australia! 🇦🇺 #WWEChamber is coming to Perth on February 24th. Tickets are on sale now. #AcknowledgeMe ☝🏽” This took the WWE Universe by storm as no one was expecting him to appear at Elimination Chamber. The WWE is quite strict about keeping their champions for major PLEs only.

With Reigns hinting at showing up at Elimination Chamber, fans have speculated who his opponent could be. Many believe it will be the start of Dwayne The Rock Johnson interfering with Reigns to try to stop his reign of terror. This would be a build-up to a final match at WrestleMania 40.

Who could Reigns face at WrestleMania 40?

The obvious answer will be Cody Rhodes. Since losing to Reigns and The Bloodline, Rhodes has been on the path to dethrone the champion. However, while Reigns is reigning as the champion, demanding people acknowledge him, Rhodes is busy battling The Judgment Day.

Fans believe that Rhodes will cross paths with Reigns once they get The Rock involved in the storyline. The Rock returned to SmackDown but has not been part of anything major yet. While fans have speculated that the Head of the Table will be brought down by The Rock, nothing is confirmed. As Johnson is a currently part-timer in the WWE, he will mainly be involved in the storyline, but not a main character.
