After churning out hits consistently, The Bloodline storyline has been deemed one of the best in the history of pro wrestling. Some have even hailed the performances of those involved as worthy of top acting prizes. To their credit, Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman have each enriched this family drama with their performances in the last few months. But of late, the storyline has been criticized, especially after the SummerSlam bout between Reigns and Jey Uso. After Kurt Angle criticized the Bloodline storyline, he received a reply from Heyman.

The legendary manager shot back while making fun of one of Angle’s achievements.

After WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns said that the Bloodline was in its third innings. According to Heyman, it hasn’t changed much after more than four months. Speaking at the post-event press conference at SummerSlam on August 5, the Wiseman of The Bloodline said, “What inning are we in? Bottom of the third. Wait until you see what we have in the fourth.”

Rubbishing the claim, Angle took a jibe at Heyman on the former’s ‘The Kurt Angle Show’. The WWE Hall of Famer said, “The storyline is great, I love it, but I think Heyman was full of s**t.” He also added that the storyline was in its eighth inning.

“Paul Heyman, I know him, and I know that he’s probably going crazy right now, ‘What do we do next?’,” the 54-year-old added.

The comment didn’t resonate with Heyman. Who reacted to a post on X that reported what Kurt Angle had said. “No matter what inning we’re in, at least we’re not looking for exposure thru the next Old Timer’s Day,” he said. While Angle is one of the most decorated pro wrestlers of all time, Heyman relegated him to an ‘old timer’.

He also took another shot at the Grand Slam champion by mocking his famous ‘broken freakin’ neck’ catchphrase. So, according to Angle, he won the gold medal in wrestling at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics with a broken neck. During his time as a pro wrestler, Angle would remind others about how he achieved success despite the injury.

“And just for the record, I typed this tweet with a broken freakin’ fingernail!” part of Heyman’s tweet read, which was a wordplay on the popular catchphrase.

But Angle is not alone in condemning the storyline.

68-year-old WWE legend admittedly bored with Bloodline match at SummerSlam

Eric Bischoff has joined the others in their dissent towards The Bloodline storyline. The 68-year-old was particularly unhappy with the match at SummerSlam.

Speaking on his ‘83 Weeks‘ podcast, Bischoff said while he is a big fan of the stable and the storyline, he was bored with the August 5 main event bout.

The criticism came even as the WWE recorded numbers that were unprecedented before the August 5 PLE. But those who are complaining can breathe a sigh of relief now as The Bloodline is unlikely to feature at Payback, the promotion’s upcoming PLE. This will, however, break the hearts of Bloodline fans.

But they can take consolation from the fact that their beloved superstars main-evented several PLE, including WrestleMania 39, this year. A rest might also give the storyline the direction that many have said is missing currently.
