With CM Punk making his return to the WWE after nine long years, fans are excited to see who he feuds with. Names like Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and more have been thrown into the mix. However, one fantasy feud with a WWE Hall of Famer might be turning into a reality. Since Punk’s departure from AEW, fans have speculated who his WWE opponent could be.

This feud was something that fans wanted to see Punk in due to the similarities between both men.

CM Punk vs Stone Cold Steve Austin might happen

If there is one WWE legend that Punk always reminds the fans of, it’s Stone Cold Steve Austin. Punk and Austin gained fame for their anti-authority persona, incredible mic, and in-ring skills. WWE has teased the feud multiple times on the network despite never having concrete plans to move forward.

On social media, one of the most reliable sources for WWE news, Fightful Select, reported the breaking news. According to Sean Ross Sapp, creative personnel have pushed for the dream match. Despite retiring from active work for 19 years, Austin had a match at WrestleMania 38 against Kevin Owens. Austin looked incredible for his age during the match.

Taking social media, Sapp said, “They’re optimistic Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk could happen, and the subject has been broached.” This indicates that the WWE is tracking what fans want to see. They can do it now despite being unable to do this match at the height of Punk’s initial run in the WWE.

Since Punk has not yet confirmed who his first feud with could be, fans have been speculating a lot. With Mania season around the corner, we could expect to see him take part in the Royal Rumber 2024.

Punk’s potential feuds in the WWE since his return

While there are many names one could toss at Punk and get an epic feud in return, there are a few selected gems. The first is Seth Rollins. Rollins was seen flipping the bird at Punk during his return at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. This could be a hint that something big is on the horizon.

The other feud could be with Roman Reigns. When Punk was in the WWE, there was no Universal Championship title. It would be a massive boost if the first belt Punk scored was the Universal title.
