AEW is on a spree of signing former WWE top stars. What started with Adam Copeland recently has extended to Ronda Rousey and Ric Flair. However, the rival promotion’s interest in ex-WWE champions doesn’t end there. In fact, it looks like out of everyone else, Tony Khan has one specific wrestler in mind that he would like to prioritize signing to AEW.

Reports suggest that Khan is increasingly interested in Dolph Ziggler becoming a part of the AEW main roster. The last time we saw the heel wrestler perform in the ring was back in May on a weekly Monday Night Raw episode. So, seeing him in the limelight again could be exciting for many wrestling fans.

When should we expect Dolph Ziggler in AEW?

The 43-year-old wrestler was fired by the Stamford-based company a couple of months ago. However, he might not be out of the game. There are no official confirmations regarding Ziggler’s wrestling retirement. So, there is still hope for a comeback. And if WON is to be believed, it might happen soon.

Recent reports suggest that the next addition to AEW’s main roster could be none other than the 2x WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “Many expect him [Dolph Ziggler] in AEW.” The industry insiders believe that Ziggler is bound to be signed by the promotion at one point or another. However, there is a tiny consideration that the wrestler has to make to avoid legal consequences.

Since the Ohio-based wrestler was released from WWE in September, the 90-day non-compete clause prevents him from participating in other promotions until December. This means he is unlikely to show up at AEW Full Gear 2023. However, if his fans have the best of luck, there is a chance he may show up tomorrow at the PPV as well.

Since Ziggler didn’t face any problems over at WWE, some fans expect him to return to the same promotion itself. However, considering the way he was released, it seems like an unlikely possibility.

Dolph Ziggler was fired with 21 other stars

After WWE’s acquisition of Endeavor, several employees were laid off. This happened because WME is a multi-billion dollar company and already has several people working in the departments that cover a lot of WWE’s needs. So, to avoid keeping too many employees doing the same work, they fired over a hundred of them.

As the wave of multiple lay-offs was still going on, we also saw the company fire around 21 in-ring performers in one night. The headlining star was Dolph Ziggler.

Considering how important of a star he used to be in the promotion, fans felt like it wasn’t doing justice to the time he served in WWE. So, if Ziggler feels the same way, it is highly unlikely for him to go back to his old workplace, making it probable for him to sign with AEW next.
