Goldberg made his WWE debut in 2003 and was straightaway booked in a marquee feud with The Rock. The former WCW Champion beat the Brahma Bull at Backlash to make an impact in his new promotion. In 2019, Goldberg talked about being in the ring with The Rock and why how it felt having a match with him.
Goldberg said, “Anytime you get to work with one of their top guys, especially a guy as talented as Rock, you’d have to take it as a huge honor. Especially, you know, I went over on him in a short period of time.” However, he then mentioned the difference between him and the Hollywood star.
He stated, “Rock and I, even though we’re both ex-football players, are different. We’re a lot different. Um, I’d rather headbutt a door because it feels good and because I want to see what the door looks like after I do it. He’d rather have his double-headbutt door. Um, I love him to death, but yeah, we’re two totally different people.”
Goldberg has an appreciation for The Rock but at the same time took a subtle dig at him as well. The Rock was Goldberg’s first opponent in WWE and the company had an idea for his WWE debut. However, Goldberg was not in favor of any of those ideas.
