The WWE legend had tried his best to avoid cortisone shots. He claimed that it is a slippery road to go down. However, his 2022 injury changed his mind, and he got one shot to improve his condition. Unfortunately, no shot was able to help his body at the time.
Orton’s health was degrading fast and due to his slipped discs, he couldn’t even use the toilet without excruciating pain or his legs going numb. While talking to SI, he revealed that doctors also suggested that he leave wrestling.
He said, “I’m working with top-of-their-class neurosurgeons, and they’re telling me, ‘You’ve had a great career. Maybe it’s time to hang up the boots. You’ve got to think of quality of life after your career.’” Orton further added, “That’s always been a priority for me, but hearing all this, after thinking I was going to get an epidural cortisone shot and I’d be fine, it was tough. I’ll be honest–I broke into tears.”
Even the former WWE Champion’s father revealed to the media during his hiatus that professionals were hinting at him to put an end to his career. However, the 43-year-old didn’t give up because this wasn’t the first time that he had to recover from a serious injury.
