One thing about CM Punk that makes him soar above the rest of the top stars in any company is his honesty. In WWE, fans loved him after his pipe bomb in WWE and led him to superstardom. But this exact quality is biting his new boss, Tony Khan in the back right now. After his media scrum at All Out last year, which saw Punk dropping truth bombs, the rope was extra thin for many AEW talents.

But now, it’s even thinner as Punk is coming back and talking about the entire debacle once again. Unearthing hurtful things from the past is only making things harder for the current AEW roster, make things difficult for Khan as he tries to get another top star to sign another long-term contract.

As AEW Collision is just hours away, CM Punk hopped on over to ESPN for an exclusive interview. While AEW tried to minimize the negative quotes from Punk in the interview, it was redundant. Specifically, Punk’s comments about Hangman Adam Page’s work ethic could hinder The Cowboy’s future prospects in the company.

About this, popular wrestling reporter, Dave Meltzer, wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “AEW was hoping that the comments Punk made about Adam Page would not be part of the article/video but the talent is largely aware of them. This is largely because the company is actively trying to sign Page to a new long-term deal. There was an attempt at damage control going on at press time but much of the talent was aware of what Punk originally said.”

In 2022, Hangman and Punk were in a feud after Page’s big win against Kenny Omega to win the AEW title. There were many segments that played out before the match, but the one that snapped Punk was when the two faced each other in the ring in a mic segment.

According to Punk, they had discussed things about the segment, but Hangman jumped off the script on air. This made Punk angry, and he complained about it during his infamous media scrum. Punk even dragged Hangman’s friends, The Elite, for saving him from any repercussions.

Hangman hasn’t said anything about Punk’s claim, but this could lead to the former AEW Champion leaving the company. With Punk’s return, Khan is gambling on a lot but it is also the only thing on people’s minds.
