Dominik Mysterio has been involved in an intense feud with his father after turning on him last year at Clash at the Castle. Ever since that fateful day, he has been demeaning his own father and bringing up stories from the past to paint the picture of his father’s negligence.

While this is a family matter, it’s also a WWE story thus inviting many people to give their opinions on it as well. Paul Heyman heard this loud and clear as he didn’t hesitate to call out Rey Mysterio, despite knowing the legend better than his son.

Paul Heyman supports Dominik Mysterio in bringing down his father

On The Bump, we got to see Paul Heyman and Dominik Mysterio interacting with each other. While talking about his own faction’s problems with Jey Uso leaving and Jimmy Uso coming out to SmackDown this week, Heyman talked a lot about families. But while talking about them, he didn’t fail to mention the father of the North American Champion sitting next to him.

First, he said that families get along with each other after they’ve settled their differences in the ring. But looking at Dom-Dom, he didn’t fail to mention, “Except when you have a deadbeat father like Dominik unfortunately had to grow up under. Then, the circumstances are different.

But why would Heyman call Rey Mysterio, a deadbeat, especially after Dominik Mysterio said the same thing about his father? Heyman and the Hall of Famer know each other from back in the day, first meeting in the mid-90s boom of wrestling in North America. Let’s look at the history between them.

The history between Paul Heyman and Rey Mysterio

Not only has Heyman known Rey Mysterio longer, but the luchador has worked under Heyman as well. During his early days in the business, the cruiserweight signed with ECW, Heyman’s own promotion. While this stint only lasted a year, both of them would meet in WWE once again in the early 2000s.

While we don’t know any details about their interactions and such, both have been on SmackDown or Raw at the same time as each other. Also, knowing about Heyman’s executive producer role at WWE, he’s worked with Mysterio in the backstage as well.
