The WWE Universe erupted with cheers of joy recently. This was when the WWE announced this year’s first Hall of Fame inductee, Paul Heyman. Heyman, who has been in the pro wrestling business since 1986, has earned a ton of respect from the fans. From working in the WWE, WCW, ECW, and back in the WWE today, Heyman has had a long and illustrious career. So, the question arises: who will induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame? Well, for one notable figure, CM Punk’s name has topped the list, which included Brock Lesnar.
Bully Ray explains why CM Punk should be the one to induct Paul Heyman
When it comes to the Hall of Fame inductors, the WWE always goes for someone who has enjoyed a close bond with the inductee. Someone who knew them well and had a ton of stories to share. It gets hard to choose a candidate for a person like Heyman, with over three decades in the business. However, Bully Ray suggested CM Punk’s name on Paul Heyman’s WWE Hall of Fame Induction segment of his Busted Open podcast. On the podcast, Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray discussed who would be the perfect inductor for Heyman. Ray said, “I’m gonna say there’s only one choice in house right now, CM Punk.

Ray talked about how he can still be used as he has a history with Heyman, and the WWE is still paying him. This could be weird as Heyman and Punk only had a year or so together, whereas Heyman played the role of the advocate for Brock Lesnar for over two decades. Ray added, “Punk the first Paul Hayman guy in the WWE right before even before Brock.”

While most fans remember Heyman being on the side of Lesnar during his ‘Next Big Thing’ run, many do not know about Heyman’s impact on Punk. While The Second City Saint was in OVW, the developmental stage of the WWE, Heyman noticed him. It was thanks to the revered manager that CM Punk got his break in the WWE. To this day, Punk talks with pride about being the first “Paul Heyman guy.” In an interview with NotSam Wrestling, the WWE star said, “You know he had my back when nobody else did.”
