It’s been almost a week since Bray Wyatt’s unfortunate demise and condolences still keep pouring in. Many wrestlers are still putting out tribute messages remembering Wyatt and his immense contribution to the WWE. But former WWE star Matt Hardy took it a step further by dedicating an entire episode of his podcast to his former arch-nemesis. During this one hour podcast, he touched upon the special bond that Vince McMahon and Wyatt shared.

Bray Wyatt looked up to Vince Mcmahon as a father

Unlike many other wrestling superstars, Bray Wyatt started his pro wrestling career directly from the WWE. He never started off in the independent circuit and thus Vince McMahon was his first boss.

During his almost 10-year WWE career, Wyatt portrayed multiple gimmicks in the WWE that were loved by fans. This also goes to show the faith Vince McMahon had in Bray Wyatt’s creative ideas. Matt Hardy, who shared a close friendship with Wyatt, talked about this bond that Wyatt and Vince McMahon shared.

During the tribute episode on his podcast Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy spoke about how McMahon treated Wyatt more than just an employee. He said, “Him and Vince had a very interesting relationship, almost like a father-son relationship in some ways. I feel like that probably came to be because he had only known the WWE system, so Vince was the only boss he ever had.”

Hardy further added, “I feel like there’s times when Vince shows you all this love, but then if you do something he doesn’t necessarily like or he disagrees with, then he’s really tough on you like a father in many ways”.

He further explained how Wyatt actually tried to do his best in the WWE just to make McMahon happy. He added if Wyatt made McMahon happy, the former Wyatt Family leader was also happy.

But talking about Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt’s relationship. They had quite a feud which later resulted in them becoming WWE champions.

Matt Hardy had a feud with Bray Wyatt which ended with them winning the RAW Tag Team Championship

In 2018, Bray Wyatt got into a feud with Matt Hardy that resulted in the beloved Woken Matt Hardy making his return to the WWE. Post that both these superstars fought in multiple matches.

They even eliminated each other simultaneously during the 2018 Royal Rumble. Their feud finally led to an Ultimate Deletion match in which Wyatt was pushed into the “Lake of Reincarnation.”

But Wyatt made an appearance at WrestleMania 34 and helped Matt Hardy win the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Post that they formed a tag team and won the vacant RAW Tag Team Championship by beating Cesaro and Sheamus. Hardy even suggested an interesting storyline to McMahon post their title win but that never saw the light of day.
