Former WWE star Sasha Banks has witnessed a series of successes ever since walking out of the promotion in 2022. Banks, who now goes by her stage name Mercedes Mone, left the WWE after a creative dispute. She now plies her trade halfway across the world- in Japan.
But Banks’ exploits aren’t just limited to her appearances at NJPW. Apart from pro wrestling, the 31-year-old is also dabbling in Hollywood. Recently, the trailer of one of her upcoming films dropped. Mone will be sharing the film credits with a 44-year-old actor who was involved in an ugly spat with Dwayne Johnson once.
Sasha Banks to play Nikita in an upcoming film

The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion’s new film is titled The Collective. The movie will hit the theaters on August 4. Banks will essay the role of Nikita, the chief of security for an auctioneer. Her character has been described as “blade-wielding company pit-bull”. The auctioneer will be played by Paul Ben-Victor. Banks shared the trailer on her Instagram story recently.
Apart from that, there’s Lucas Till, Don Johnson, Ruby Rose, and Fast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson.
Gibson has a history with Dwayne Johnson. The two, apart from being in the ensemble cast of the Fast franchise, got along well in real life until Johnson decided to make a spin-off movie based on his Hobbs character.
In a post shared on Instagram in 2017, Gibson accused Johnson of breaking the Fast family and also called him a ‘clown’. Thus making the feud public. However, they seemed to resolve the issues later on, as The Great One is back essaying his iconic role in the franchise. But not just Hobbs, Gibson’s character of Roman Pearce is also iconic. The film franchise has actively aided in his net worth, which according to Forbes is $21 million.
As for Banks, she made her Hollywood debut in 2020. The 31-year-old played the character of Koska Reeves in the second season of the Star Wars show The Mandalorian.
Meanwhile, one of Banks’ probable Hollywood projects, featuring a popular WWE personality, took a hit recently.
Sony spoils Sasha Banks’ celebrations
Recently, reports have emerged that Sony has stalled a project that would have featured Sasha Banks in it. Apart from Banks, popular rapper and current WWE sensation Bad Bunny was set to be a part of it.
The movie, titled El Muerto, a spinoff of Spider-Man, has been shelved as of now. According to reports, the company has removed the title from its release schedule.

Banks was set to play an undisclosed role in the film, but that plan has been scrapped, for now, at least. But her fans can cheer for her in the upcoming movie.
