Stealing superstars’ catchphrases or signature hand gestures is a current trend on WWE. Former WWE talent is the latest one to carry it on. Mercedes Mone,31, has been away from WWE for a while now. She’s currently on her NPJW hiatus too, following a grave injury. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that the former WWE women’s champion will keep herself out of the discussion.

Ever since the Former Sasha Banks walked out of WWE, she continues to be in the limelight. After making a monumental NJPW debut on Day 1 of Wrestle Kingdom 17, Mone made quite a name for herself in her dream promotion. But it turns out she is far from getting over the one-of-a-kind WWE legend, Dwayne The Rock Johnson.

In wrestling, there’s a popular practice among fans to obsess over some iconic catchphrases of superstars. Arguably, the most quotable wrestler in the mix, The Rock wins the race here, too. Apart from his impressive mic skills and exceptional in-ring moves, it’s an array of spectacular taglines that made him stand out among the crowd. Fans probably would still sing The Rock coined one-liners if he ever cuts a promo on the stage again, That said, not only fans, former WWE face Mercedes Mone sang it too.

The CEO posted an old clip on Instagram where she has been seen delivering The Rock popularised, It Doesn’t Matter What Your Name Is!” to Trish Stratus in front of her WWE female squad.

However, the emergence of this savage catchline dates back to 1999, where The Rock spelled it out for the very first time to silence his opponent, Billy Gunn.

Speaking of Mercedes Mone’s connection to The Rock, it’s not only confined to borrowing the catchphrases, nevertheless.

Mercedes Mone became an instant star winning an IGPW Women’s Championship taking on Kairi right after her NPJW debut and was in a role until she lost the title to Mayu Iwatani in the co-main event of the Queen of Stardom show in April. Brimming with high confidence, the NPJW star made a shell-shocking claim that set the entire wrestling world ablaze. She held herself on the same lofty level as ‘The People’s Champion.’

Mone cut a promo as a rockstar with a stunning guitar performance. It led a random fan on Twitter to compare her to Dean Ambrose. However, the flattering couldn’t please the former WWE talent. He countered the fan, retweeting it with the caption, More like the female @TheRock #TheCEO.”

However, Mone seeing herself as the female version of the marquee WWE figure and the highest-paid Holywood actor wasn’t taken sportingly by the majority of the fans. They flocked to Twitter to blast her for her claim.
