Pat McAfee, the former NFL star who also serves as WWE SmackDown commentator, is quite popular among fans and has recently grabbed the attention of the media. But this time, it is not about another WWE return. This time, it is all about an offer by Disney that could make him ditch a $120 million deal. WWE Universe loves McAfee as a commentator because of his enthusiasm for wrestling. However, for a while, he has maintained a distance from the commentary table of the blue brand because of some other commitments.

But now it seems like he is going to make a lot more than he was making in Vince McMahon’s world.

Apart from WWE and ESPN, Pat McAfee also hosts a popular show ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on FanDuel. He has signed a four-year deal worth $120 million with the company. However, now it seems like he might be moving away from the deal before the stipulated time as ESPN could potentially sign a deal with him for the show.

The New York Post has recently reported that ESPN is the favorite candidate who could sign the deal with the SmackDown commentator. The rumors became more solid when Pat McAfee tweeted a picture with Bob Iger (Disney CEO). Disney is the parent company of ESPN and they will be keen to not let a good deal go.

And if we talk about McAfee then his bank balance will surely flourish with this deal. If he signs up with ESPN, then the SmackDown commentator will earn more than $30 million a year. With this, he will make way more than Roman Reigns, who is currently the richest active roster star in the WWE.

The reason why ESPN is being considered a leading candidate is that this won’t be the only deal between the company and McAfee if it happens.

Pat McAfee’s history with ESPN

In 2019, the American sports writer and reporter Adam Schefter announced that Pat McAfee has signed a deal with ESPN as a color analyst for their ‘College Football’ broadcasts.

And last year in September, McAfee also took a break from WWE to continue working with ESPN. However, WWE Universe witnessed him on a few occasions after that. In his last WWE appearance, the sports analyst challenged The Miz to a match at WrestleMania 39 and even scored the victory.

If we talk about McAfee’s current WWE status, then he is still signed with the company. But if he decides to sign the deal with ESPN, his fate with WWE will become a little uncertain.
