Last week’s Friday Night SmackDown was a spectacle to watch. The return of AJ Styles, the fight between Jimmy Uso and Randy Orton, and the fight to be the number 1 contender for the WWE United States Championship meant that fans were treated to an amazing show. However, what stole the show was the confrontation between Randy Orton and Roman Reigns at the start of the show. It was one of the most talked about segments of the evening. While it had a lot of viewership, an NXT star also came close to matching those numbers. And the young prospect decided to take a snarky dig at Roman Reigns.

A few weeks ago, Logan Paul declared that he was about to start a small tournament at SmackDown to determine his next contender. Following this announcement, NXT’s head Shawn Micheals said that one of the NXT’s rising stars would also join the race. It wasn’t revealed until last week that the star in question was going to be Hayes. This was his debut at the blue brand. The 29-year-old star squared off against the Arrogant Aussie and surprisingly, won the bout.

He now faces the prospect of going up against Kevin Owens next week. If he wins, he will climb another step. The next hurdle for him would be to face either Bobby Lashley or Santos Escobar, depending on who wins next week. Hayes has been getting significant limelight, with even veteran Mark Henry advocating for him.

Mark Henry told on a podcast that he believes Hayes was the next big thing and had also told him the same thing when he first met him. However, the former Nation of Domination member said that Hayes might have doubts about himself. He believes that this might be due to his small stature. Henry concluded by saying that the match with Waller was the beginning of the ultimate push he deserves. However, it all depends on how Hayes ends his story.
