Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns had the entire wrestling world talking and sharing their opinions about the closing moments. Many believed that Rhodes should have won in the end, while others counter it with the idea that Rhodes will have a bigger pop the next time he faces the Tribal Chief. But there hasn’t been one clear answer to that question.

While the consensus of this booking might be out there, this former world champion has some opinions of his own concerning this major decision by WWE. This legend is none other than WWE Hall of Famer, Kurt Angle.

In his recent podcast episode, The Kurt Angle Show, the legend remarked about the main event that shook the wrestling world. The ending surprised most of the people in the arena and it wasn’t the happy ending that everyone was hoping for. First, Angle cleared that he isn’t looking to tear down Reigns, and he deserves to be at the top of WWE.

Then Angle pointed out the current time that the wrestling business is in right now. He said, “We’re in a time now where if you’re a champion for three years. It’s just too long. Because we’re not in territories anymore. When you were in territories, you weren’t on TV every week. So fans had to come to see you at the arenas.

Angle counted the times that the audience sees the champion, Raw and SmackDown, then the PPVs. It is a lot of appearances for a champion, to keep his aura fresh and exciting. He adds that Reigns has the ability to make a star, but since Rhodes is already a star, he would become a mega-star, but WWE fumbled on it and they might lose some fans based on it.

However, the special counsel to the Tribal Chief defended WWE’s decision with his own reasoning for it. Sitting down with Ariel Helwani, Paul Heyman quickly dismissed the idea that the main event ending was bad. He argued that this loss will make Rhodes a bigger star in the long term. If he would have won the title, the conversation would’ve ended, and there would be no one interested in Rhodes’ story anymore.

But as Angle put it, there was a chance for WWE to create their next big star. It is clear that the Rhodes vs Reigns match ending has generated quite a buzz in wrestling circles and will continue to be a part of debates for some more time.
