CM Punk has made himself into an absolute renegade. Tony Khan recently released him from the AEW roster and terminated his contract with the wrestling promotion. While Khan did what he had to do, a more experienced voice thinks things could have been different.

Eric Bischoff has time and again proven to be one of the most effective pro wrestling strategists. He regularly voices his opinion on his podcast ‘83 Weeks’ and talks about major events across all pro wrestling companies. In the latest iteration of his podcast, Bischoff spoke about one of Punk, a wrestler he has very strong opinions about.
Several people thought that Khan sending Punk off to be claimed by AEW’s rivals was a big mistake. However, Bischoff and WWE were firm in their decision that they didn’t want to do anything with Punk. Bischoff said that the AEW head took a lot of time to remove Punk from his company. In his opinion, the pro wrestling strategist said that Khan should have acted way back in 2022.
“I think it would’ve been better, in the long run, had Tony made this same decision months ago. When Punk had his meltdown at the press conference and made Tony look like a complete buffoon in the process,” Bischoff said. He further pointed out that the responsibilities a leader holds are painful, but it’s imperative to go undertake them.

He said, “At some point, you need to be a leader, and sometimes being a leader is really painful, really painful, because there’s no good decision, there’s only a correct decision, and the correct decision was to let him go.” Many may think that Bischoff has taken an extreme stance on the issue. However, the strategist had apparently given Khan a piece of his mind a long time ago.
