Much Like His WWE Persona, John Cena Was Nowhere to Be Seen at Barbie’s Press Event

Taking his leave from WWE, John Cena is popping up everywhere in Hollywood. Whether it is the Fast series or the DCEU, Cena’s charisma gets him a role in every big movie coming out these days. Another one of these movies that Cena plays a massive role in, that’s coming out soon, is Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

In the midst of dark, brooding, realistic movies, Barbie popped up as a colorful, propitious time. While the movie is yet to release, fans are very excited to see this movie. Before that, the cast had a press event, but The Champ was nowhere to be seen.

John Cena absent from Barbie’s press event

On Instagram, ET posted several photos of the Barbie cast, along with their director, who arrived in Los Angeles for a press event. From Ryan Gosling to Margot Robbie, all the big stars of the movie were present. But Cena was nowhere to be seen. While there might be a lot of reasons for his absence from the press event, the most logical one is that he might be busy filming another movie or TV show.

With his busy schedule, one that even keeps him away from wrestling, Cena can’t be everywhere. As there is a month for the movie to be released, there will be many press events and interviews for the movie that the Hollywood actor could be a part of.

But more exciting than Cena’s absence, which coincides with his iconic catchphrase ‘You Can’t See Me’ is the story of how Cena got cast in Barbie in the first place.

How did Cena get a role in the Barbie movie?

It all started when Cena was shooting The Suicide Squad alongside Margot Robbie. The two became great friends on the set. When Cena’s Fast X and Robbie’s Barbie were being shot across the street, the two had an accidental run-in. Cena revealed that Robbie, who makes several casting decisions, got him a role in the movie.

Playing the love interest of pop star Dua Lipa’s mermaid Barbie, this role is right up Cena’s alley. Even though there are mega-stars in the movie, Cena’s charisma is guaranteed to shine brightly and leave a mark on the audience.
