Along with being the home to many experienced wrestlers, WWE is also known for giving chances to younger performers equipped with the needed skill. That being said, one young talent whose name has been associated since 2021 with WWE is Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson. However, the star is yet to have his debut match on the roster.
Around WrestleMania 39 under Triple H’s creative supervision, it was highly anticipated that the 22-year-old US gold medalist would debut as the ‘next Brock Lesnar’. But as we now know, it didn’t happen at all. Despite the delays in his WWE debut, former United States Champion Mr. Kennedy spoke highly of his trainee.

Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show podcast, Ken Anderson, aka Mr. Kennedy, spoke about his goals as a trainer. A few moments into the discussion, he also highlighted the qualities of one of his trainees, Gable Steveson.
Anderson said, “He’s really taken to it. He’s one of those guys, I remember, he took his first bump, and I told him, ‘Get up this way,’ and he got up the wrong way. Before I even said anything, he just went, ‘Oh–‘ reversed himself back down and did it almost perfectly the first time.”
A compliment like this, that too coming from a well-experienced pro-wrestler, must be a positive for Steveson. He could still make an impact on the roster and despite his big WrestleMania plans not coming to fruition, he could have a solid run.
However, Mr. Kennedy didn’t stop there. He continued to speak highly of Steveson, comparing it to the legendary Kurt Angle.

Following what he previously said about the Olympic gold medalist, Anderson added one more of his analogy. In this, he talked about Kurt Angle, the first-ever Olympic gold medalist to be signed by WWE. He went on to describe Angle’s best features as a wrestler and how everyone thinks of him as one of the best in the business.
Mr. Kennedy also added that with his wrestling skills, Kurt Angle is also equipped with the knowledge of storytelling, showmanship, and other character stuff. And soon after this, he said, “I feel like Gable is on that path. He can do great things.”

Along with this, he also mentioned how Gable Steveson is quite young right now compared to anyone else debuting in the industry. However, his maturity is of someone who is in his 30s.
All in all, after this appreciation for Steveson, it becomes more interesting to see when the Olympic gold medalist debuts in WWE.
