In 2013, the Rhodes family was feuding with the powers that be, The Authority. Triple H and Stephanie abused their powers and manipulated the outcome of every situation to their liking. The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes, did not take The Authority’s tyranny very kindly and mounted a mutiny. As a result, The Rhodes were pitted against The Authority’s Hounds of Justice, The Shield. At one point during the match, the fans in Buffalo were delighted to see Dusty Rhodes drop his iconic Bionic elbow on Jon Moxley.

Sadly, that was also the last time that the fans saw the mighty elbow drop, as Dusty Rhodes passed away two years later. The WWE Universe recently reminisced about the iconic moment, remembering the late great Dusty Rhodes.

When The Authority was ruling the WWE with an iron fist, Cody Rhodes boldly criticized Triple H for his authoritarianism. This led to The Game forcing Rhodes to put his career on the line in a match against then-top champion Randy Orton. After Rhodes lost his match against The Viper, he was terminated. This sparked a reaction from his brother, Goldust, who vowed to get Cody his job back. In addition, Dusty Rhodes came forward and took shots at The Authority in a segment on Raw.

Ultimately, The Authority threw The Rhodes brothers to The SHIELD in a handicap match at the Battleground PLE. Although Goldust and Cody Rhodes put up a fight against Jon Moxley, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns, the numbers game soon caught up to them.

During the closing moments of the match, Jon Moxley got into the face of Dusty Rhodes at ringside. The American Dream shoved his cowboy hat in the face of Ambrose. He then took his belt out and used the buckle as a weapon.

The fans went wild after a vintage Dusty Rhodes dropped the patented Bionic Elbow on Moxley. Meanwhile, in the ring, Cody gained the upper hand and delivered the Cross Rhodes, picking up the win for his family.
