When it comes to listing out some of the most vicious heels in WWE, Randy Orton has to be on the top of that list. Orton made his debut in 2002 and did not take long to ascend to the top. The multi-time WWE Champion, however, has been MIA since last year due to a grave back injury. 

Recalling his classic feud with Randy Orton, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle revealed how he loved the Viper’s in-ring character. In addition, he also stated that Orton was in his rookie year, almost as good as he is today.

Kurt Angle and Randy Orton had a series of underrated matches back in 2006. One of the most memorable matches between the duo took place in front of a wild audience at ECW One Night Stand. Although Orton found himself on the losing side that night, he got his revenge at Vengeance by picking up the win over The Olympic wrestling machine. 

While speaking on a recent edition of The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle revealed how he loved Randy Orton’s character. According to him, he had all the ingredients to become a top star in the WWE. Angle stated that Randy Orton’s ability to sell the “Viper” character he portrays fascinated him.

He said, “He(Orton) was almost as good as he is now back then. I mean he literally was that good and not only that but I love this character, you know he was tall and thin and slender and he moved around like a snake and his nickname was the Viper,  it was a great character for him and it really put him over the top. 

He further added that Randy Orton is just as good an actor as he is a wrestler. Orton’s facial expressions and the way he carried himself during his matches and promos impressed Angle.

Furthermore, Kurt Angle provided an exciting update on the status of Randy Orton’s WWE return.

The WWE Universe last saw Randy Orton on television in May 2022. He needed to step away from the squared circle to undergo fusion surgery on his lower back. Although fans were optimistic about his return, his father, Cowboy Bob Orton provided a concerning update. He relayed in an interview that the doctors advised The Apex Predator to retire from wrestling due to the severity of his back injury.

Orton’s return was heavily speculated ahead of WrestleMania when his bootmaker revealed that he was contacted by Orton for new wrestling boots. However, rumors were laid to rest as Orton never showed up. 

While speaking further on The Kurt Angle Show, The Hall of Famer claimed that Randy Orton has fully healed and is ready to compete. He said, “Doing good man. He recovered from his back surgery. He’s, I think he’s gonna come back pretty damn soon. He’s doing much better, yes.”

We will have to wait and see when Randy Orton makes his much-awaited return to the ring.
