Matt Hardy‘s contract with AEW is ending in March. While some fans were worried that the wrestling legend would retire after his last match in Tony Khan’s promotion, he has assured his fans through social media that this is not the end of his pro wrestling career. This led to a lot of fans predicting that he could return to the WWE at WrestleMania XL.
The former WWE star has not made it easy for fans either. He has been dropping hints regularly without revealing whether he is joining the Stamford-based company once again. Recently, he fueled the rumors even further with another Instagram post.

After a fan asked him to confirm whether he was retiring, Hardy replied to his tweet by announcing that his in-ring performances were far from over. This is when the fanbase started urging him to have “one last run” in WWE. Following this incident, he was also seen sitting among the crowd on Monday Night Raw, which he claimed was merely a coincidence.
The fanbase believes that if Hardy is to return to WWE, WrestleMania XL would be the perfect occasion for a grand re-entry. To fire up these rumors even further, he uploaded a 21-year-old clip where he can be seen wrestling against Rey Mysterio.

The throwback is to WrestleMania XIX when Matt Hardy defended the Cruiserweight Title against Rey Mysterio on 30th March 2003. In the clip, we can see the two WWE legends pulling off graceful moves in the squared circle.
Considering the WrestleMania return rumors, could it be Hardy’s way of teasing the fans for what is to come shortly? This is also not the first time since the rumors started that the older Hardy brother is fueling these rumors.

Matt Hardy uploaded another tease a few days ago
On the 18th of March this year, the 49-year-old gave out the first tease for a potential WWE return. He uploaded a clip just like the Mysterio one. This one was also a 21-year-old throwback to the same day. However, this time around, the match in question was against Nova at WWE Velocity #44 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Both of these matches were from his Cruiserweight Championship era in 2003. So, either the wrestling legend is missing that time all of a sudden, or he is trying to foreshadow an imminent return. Considering the expiry of his contract, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him at WrestleMania this year.
