The pro-wrestling world reeled in shock as reports emerged of an unknown armed assailant trying to kidnap WWE superstar Sonya Deville in August 2020. Fortunately for Deville, her stalker was arrested as she escaped unharmed. Almost three years later, the case has finally received a closure.

According to reports, the verdict on the case is finally out. Deville’s stalker, identified as Phillip A. Thomas II, has received a strict sentence, which is likely to keep him behind bars for a long time.

Sonya Deville’s stalker set for 15-year prison period

According to reports, Thomas pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including attempted kidnapping. The man was also charged with armed burglary and aggravated stalking. The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison on Tuesday.

The court was hearing the case, which took place in 2020. Thomas had reportedly arrived at her house with pepper spray, a knife, duct tape, and zip ties. Months before the attempted attack, he texted the female wrestler several times, threatening her. He later threatened Deville’s friends and family as well.

In her account, Deville has stated that former WWE superstar Mandy Rose was with her on the night of the incident. The two escaped in a car and later called 911. Police arrived at the spot and arrested Thomas.

On August 17, 2020, Deville took to Twitter to state the incident as “A very frightening experience”, while thanking law enforcement and people who were concerned about her. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old reacted to the recent development.

Sonya Deville has ‘a lot to say’ after stalker’s sentencing

Hours after her stalker received his sentencing, Sonya Deville took to Instagram to react to the development. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out today. After almost 3 years we finally got some closure last week,” part of her post read.

Deville said she’s happy and healthy now while adding that she’s grateful that the proceedings were finally over.

She said, “I have a lot to say pertaining to this situation which I feel can help a lot of people in similar situations now that the legalities are over.” Deville chose to end it with a “thank you,” for now.

Meanwhile, Deville was arrested in New Jersey on 19th February over possession of a gun. The firearm, which is reportedly registered in Florida, did not have the necessary New Jersey permit. She bought the firearm after the 2020 attempted kidnapping incident.
